Five IEM TSU Students Studying at Jilin International Studies University (China) This Semester
Cooperation between the Institute of Economics and Management (IEM) of Tomsk State University and Chinese partners is reaching a new level. Two years ago, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with Ningde Pedagogical University and Jilin International Studies University (PRC), laying the foundation for joint specialist training and student exchanges.
This semester, a group of master's students fr om the International Management program is studying in China. The group includes Elizaveta Izmailova, Anastasia Makoveeva, Elizaveta Marchenko, Sofya Mokrushina, and Daria Gilgenberg. The students have already begun their studies at Jilin International University of Foreign Languages, wh ere they are not only deepening their knowledge in international management but also immersing themselves in the business culture of East Asia.
It is important to note that mobility remains two-way: concurrently with our students' departure, representatives from the Chinese partner university will be studying in Tomsk. Such synergy allows for building sustainable intercultural connections and strengthening the position of the International Management program as one of the most international directions at IEM TSU.

"Studying in China is a unique opportunity to gain experience living in another country, studying at a different university, to improve my Chinese language level, to meet interesting people, and to visit various places in China. I am genuinely enjoying my studies and life here. I really like China, its culture, style, and way of life. I am very glad that TSU gives students the opportunity to gain such experience," says Elizaveta Izmailova.
"The first month in China has flown by like one minute. This is the best decision I have ever made. We don't have time to get bored here: studies mix with endless walks around the city, language practice goes on 24/7, and our new friends are people from different countries. This is not just a semester abroad, but an intensive course in networking and language proficiency improvement. I am genuinely enjoying everything happening here. The culture, way of life, style – all of this resonates greatly with me. I am especially pleased that my university provides such an opportunity," notes Anastasia Makoveeva.
"I like that besides classes, we have time to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of China. The teachers are always ready to help: it is especially valuable that among them are specialists from other countries. The atmosphere at the university is conducive to development, and I feel significant progress in my knowledge," wrote Elizaveta Marchenko.
"The coolest thing is the international atmosphere. Our teachers come from different corners of the planet: Serbia, India, Ethiopia, China. In the dormitory, we constantly communicate with people from other countries, and this is invaluable experience. Also, the food here is incredibly tasty and budget-friendly, and the campus is beautiful and pleasant for walks," shares Sofya Mokrushina.
"I am in China for the first time, so studying and living here – all of this is new to me. We have classes within our specialization as well as Chinese language classes, which makes the learning process very intensive and interesting. When we have free time, we communicate with students from other countries and study Chinese culture," says Daria Gilgenberg.
