IEM creates Leaders of the Future target capital to support students and lecturers

The Institute of Economics and Management of the TSU in anticipation of its 5th anniversary opens a new target capital, called Leaders of the Future, in the university’s endowment fund. The funds will be used to support talented students and the best lecturers of IEM, development programs, educational and scientific events, internships and scholarships, students’ involvement in entrepreneurship and startup creation. Furthermore, the V.A. Gaga scholarship will be established.
IEM TSU opened having a substantial foundation: economic education at Tomsk State University already had a history of more than 100 years, and in 2023, it will be 125 years since the opening of the Department of Political Economy and Statistics. The merging of the Faculty of Economics, the International Faculty of Management and the Higher School of Business at IEM has significantly strengthened the quality of training of professionals with cross-competencies for a rapidly changing world. Today IEM has more than 1,100 students and 70 lecturers, and over 50 corporate partners.
“I wholeheartedly support the idea of opening a target capital for the Institute of Economics and Management. It is not only an additional source of development and a "perpetual capital" that will help the Institute to realize its goals, but also a unique connection between alumni and their alma mater,” President of the TSU and Chairman of Endowment Fund Board of TSU George Mayer emphasized.
On May 20, the Institute of Economics and Management of the TSU celebrates its 5th anniversary. Alumni, students, lecturers, friends, and partners are all invited to attend the IEM Day: a celebratory concert and a TED talks-style conference will take place at the TSU Culture Center fr om 6 p.m., wh ere economists and managers will share inspiring ideas and interesting trends.
“Many graduates of the Faculty of Economics, the International Faculty of Management, and the Higher School of Business have long been active supporters of TSU. By opening of the institute's target capital, we want to support and continue the best traditions of higher economic education at Tomsk State University. This will enable us to implement many interesting projects, and our partners and alumni – to make an important contribution to the development of the institute by becoming part of its present and future," says Evgeniya Nekhoda, Director of IEM TSU.

According to the law, in order for target capital to be formed and start working, its account must have at least 3 million rubles in its. This sum needs to be raised in a year. The account is replenished by charitable donations, and then the funds are placed under trust management. Thus, the amount of capital is constantly growing, including through investments. When the total amount of money reaches 3 million rubles, a special Vladimir Antonovich Gaga scholarship will also be established.

Alumni, students, lecturers, partners of the IEM, and all Tomsk citizens willing to help can take part in replenishing the Leaders of the Future target capital and contribute to the development of economic and management education. The name of each benefactor will be included in a contemporary Book of Contributors.
