IEM Students Present Projects Developed on Sber's Platform

On December 4th, project defenses were held for projects developed by 2nd-year master's students in "Management," "Finance and Credit," and "Human Resource Management" using Sber's "Navigator BI" platform.

Sber's "Navigator" platform allows users to upload and analyze data and present research results in the form of dashboards. Aiding users are a large library of useful materials, an AI assistant, and a dashboard builder with various data visualization formats.

Throughout the semester, as part of the course "Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility" (instructor: Prof. E.V. Nekhoda), student teams worked on case studies using data from real companies. They conducted analyses of ESG factors and non-financial reporting, and made forecasts. The projects presented at the defense, which included diverse dashboards, were evaluated and commented on by leading expert Ivan Topolia, Managing Director of Sber's "Finance" block and Academic Director of the "Digital finance for executives" program.

For building the dashboards, the non-financial reports of leading Russian companies recognized for sustainable development and high ESG ratings were used (PJSC Gazprom, PJSC Polyus, PJSC PhosAgro, PJSC Sibur, PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, PJSC Lukoil, PJSC Rostelecom, Yandex), along with ESG DataBook reference materials. The students proposed a number of recommendations for improving ESG metrics.
"Sber has integrated into our existing economic, financial, and management disciplines and provided IEM TSU students and instructors with access to its digital platforms 'Navigator' and 'Process Mining'. This format of interacting with a real company during specialist training is a great help for instructors, as it allows the integration of modern business analytics tools into the curriculum. For students, it's immersion into practical work, an opportunity to handle real data from leading Russian companies and receive expert evaluation of their work from a potential employer," said Maria German, Director of the Master's and Postgraduate Programs Office at IEM.

Next semester, the practice of IEM students working on Sber's platforms is planned to be expanded—not only at the master's level but also in the basic higher education (bachelor's programs).
