IEM TSU Student Igor Zhukov Was Awarded A Finam Scholarship

Igor Zhukov, a student at the Institute of Economics and Management (IEM) of Tomsk State University (TSU), has been awarded a scholarship under the "Investment in the Future" program by the Finam financial group.

Throughout the 2025/26 academic year, the scholarship recipients will receive 10,000 rubles monthly from Finam. Over the three years of TSU's collaboration with the program operator, seven TSU students have now become winners, recognized for their high level of knowledge and active research work.

The official ceremony for presenting the scholarship certificates was held in Moscow at the World Trade Center. It brought together over 60 students from across the country. In total, for the 2025/26 academic year, the program will distribute 459 scholarships among students from 115 universities in 72 regions of Russia and two regions of Kazakhstan.

Igor Zhukov is a fourth-year student in the "Business Analytics" program at IEM TSU. He received the "Investment in the Future" scholarship for his research on approaches to assessing the risks of financial instruments.

In his research, Igor compared various econometric and statistical models for measuring and forecasting risk, and also performed validation and filtering to identify the best mathematical models.

— Speaking about the benefits of cooperation with the operator and the founders of the scholarship program, I can highlight three points. Firstly, receiving funding is a motivation for the student as a researcher. Secondly, the motivation for the student as a future specialist is the opportunity to establish professional and business connections. Finally, for financial market organizations, the motivation is gaining new scientific insights and recruiting talent. Thus, the cooperation is mutually beneficial for both applicants and sponsors, — says Igor.

The "Investment in the Future" scholarship program is implemented by the "NP RTS" Association and the Financial Market Council with the participation of Center-invest Bank. The program is actively supported by financial market participants. To date, 51 scholarship founders are participating in the program. According to the terms, the scholarships are awarded to students who are actively engaged in research in the fields of finance, mathematics, and information technology, present at conferences, publish their research results, and have a grade point average of at least 4.5.

This year at TSU, the scholarship recipients are Natalia Chalykh (Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science) and Igor Zhukov (IEM). For our institute, this is already the second scholarship from the "NP RTS" Association: in 2023, Daria Demidova was among the scholarship recipients.

— For students, this competition is important and useful not only for the scholarship itself. It is also an opportunity to join the professional community of financial institutions and the financial market. Furthermore, scholars are offered the opportunity to complete internships at financial institutions, with the possibility of subsequent employment. So, essentially, the winners of the program are making an investment in their professional future and development, — emphasizes Yulia Smetanova, Director of the TSU Youth Center.

In turn, for the scholarship founders, such support for talented students is a "direct investment in the future of the entire industry," noted Yulia Afanaseva, a teacher at the Finam Training Center.
