On May 16, the traditional day of the Institute of Economics and Management was celebrated at TSU.
The head of the Institute, Yevgenia Nekhoda opened the event in building 31:
“At the student conference the key trend in both the economy and the labor market nowadays was repeatedly mentioned: human centricity. On one hand it’s a global trend, on the other, I’d say that, at IEM, it’s a part of our DNA. The students truly feel that they can find support for any scientific or creative idea. That’s why they don’t hesitate to express their thoughts and suggestions. Back in our day, we could hardly imagine being so close to lecturers, such opportunities to discuss ideas, to ask for advice, to suggest our own projects. I think that’s what makes IEM great and I’m proud to be a part of this big family. I look forward to welcoming new minds – lecturers, students, graduates, and PhD students.
Happy holiday, my friends!”
This year the program included several key events:
1. Summarizing the results of the youth conference
2. Awarding the prize for the video contest “IEM from students’ point of view”
3. A meeting with industry experts in marketing and digitalization
4. A business role-playing game for Tomsk students “Key rate”
However, the highlight everyone awaited was a lively intellectual competition for the IEM community “Jeopardy”
Mixed teams of the students and the staff tackled questions, topics of which ranged from professional economics to general knowledge. But what sparkled particular excitement was the topics related to the Institute’s life, for example guessing IEM lecturers from anime-style pictures.
In the end the team “Legends of IEM” proved to be the most quick-witted, the smartest and the fastest on the buzzer. Congratulations to the winners and to everyone involved on the day of IEM!
