The IEM discussed Business English: Active Teaching and Learning
Recently, 29 teachers and methodologists from the University of Sheffield (Great Britain), the TSU Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Institute of Economic and Management (IEM) participated in the discussion Business English: Active Teaching and Learning, on the IEM online platform.
Petr Mitchell, Head of the Department of Translation and Language Communications, and his colleague Geksel Shenkal spoke about the possibilities of using the Storyline methodology in teaching economics students.
The discussion participants decided that such meetings are very useful for teaching methodology - they help to share effective methods and get a charge of inspiration from professional communication.
- Events in English have already become traditional for TSU, - notes Tamara Budlova, senior lecturer of the TSU Department of English Philology and moderator of the discussion. - The main goal of this meeting was to unite English teachers and subject teachers for the effective use of modern technologies related to the English language
William Nash, the Academic Director of Teacher Training at the University of Sheffield, took part in the discussion. He introduced the audience to the unique methodology “English as a Medium of Instruction”, which helps subject teachers to conduct their classes in English.
