The Youth conference at IEM of TSU sets new record for submitted presentations
On May 15, IEM of TSU hosted its traditional international conference “Economics through the eyes of youth” for the students, PhD students, and young researchers. The conference once again sets the new record for the number of participants, with 270 people registered across 9 thematic sections.
Deputy Research Director of IEM, Mikhail Chikov said: “Last year, approximately 200 students and young researchers took part in the conference, while this year’s number reached 270. The range of the universities represented was impressive. Apart from Tomsk students we’ve welcomed attendees from Novosibirsk, Voronezh, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara, Kursk, Vladivostok, and Moscow universities. International agenda was addressed by representatives from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Belarus – and there’s still room for further development. Nevertheless, the conference was a success and the jury selected the top presenters in each section.”
The conference featured 9 sections: “Macroeconomic policy of the State (in collaboration with the Central Bank of Russia)”, “Innovations and public welfare”, “Management”, “Entrepreneurship”, “Organizational behavior and HR-management”, ”Finance and accounting” (in collaboration with self-regulated organization of auditors, “Sodruzhestvo” Assosiation), “Mathematical models for business decision-making”, “Economic security issues” and “Current Issues in Modern Economics and Management: Fresh Look and New Solutions» (in English).
Tatiana Ilyina, the head of the Finance and Accounting department at IEM of TSU stated: “The presentations become more and more interesting every year. Previously the presenters were just reading the text at sight, whereas now it’s clear how deeply they delve into their topics and how they master them. You can see the spark in their eyes, they’re eager to pursue scientific careers. I encourage all participants to continue their research and improve their knowledge as those skills will be quite useful in innovation economics field”
Awarding for the best presentations took place on the 16th of May, during the Day of IEM. The professors thanked students and young researchers for their scientific activity.
Yevgenia Nekhoda, the head of IEM noted: “For years we’ve treated presentations during this conference as team papers defense. However, we see that the students don’t do this for the grades, they’re driven by the genuine interest in their research and the jury always takes this into consideration. This youth conference has been traditional for decades. When I was an IEM student myself, I took part in it too. And now I want to congratulate both winners and participants and I urge them to continue their research since this is such a vast and exiting field”
