On April 22 2025 the lecture named “The Arctic in the Time of Trump and Immediate Tasks of Russian Government” by the Russian geographer MSU Professor Alexander Pilyasov takes place at IEM TSU
Alexander Nikolaevich Pilyasov is a geographer, economist, Dr. Sci., Professor, an expert in northern regions and the Artic. He has written more than 200 academic papers dedicated to the problems of social and economic development of northern Russian regions and cities in the postindustrial transformation environment. He is a CEO of the “Regional Consulting Institute”.
The social model for strong presence in the Artic must be built with the consideration of the area’s unique characteristics, Alexander Nikolaevich says.
The intense development of Asian economies is going to demand new resources, this is why the Asian middle class is very interested in the Arctic. The demand for future resources is unprecedented. During the lecture we will discuss how the Artic zone of Russia must be developed in such environment.
