“We stand for responsible consumption!” More than 100 students from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in academic competition “Entrepreneurship and Management” at IEM

The All-Russian (with international participation) Academic Competition “Entrepreneurship and Management” took place at IEM. More than 100 students from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the academic competition. They passed tests of management, entrepreneurship and sustainable development, solved a case presented by “Siberian Kedr” eco-factory and created short videos about their personal experience of the responsible consumption.

The competition international experts were a Customer Success Manager of Waro Company (France) Anastasiya Mishenko, who held an open lecture “Practices of Responsible Consumption and Production” and Bolat Baltabaev, Deputy Dean of Higher School of Economics of Astana International University.

The first place at the competition was taken by Aluya Sultanbekova from Astana International University, the second place was shared between Alina Suhorukova from Siberian Federal University and Ekaterina Shimina from TSU. The third place was also shared among by Darya Demidova from TSU, Tatyana Haidapova from Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Arina Semuhina from TUSUR University.

The competition academic adviser, IEM Professor Inna Valentinovna Krakovetskaya mentions:

The motto of our competition was “Act responsibly!” that reflects our aspiration to contribute to the achievement of the goal of the sustainable development “Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”.

All the products we produce and consume have negative and positive effects on the environment, economy and rates of social development. It’s very important for modern young generation to feel the involvement in solving humanity problems. The University must teach the students how to seek and detect ways of solving such problems.

A major part of the competition was case-solving. The case was presented by Tomsk companies – responsible manufacturers. This year the students had to organize eco-tours to the “Tourist Farm” of the “Siberian Kedr” eco-factory. The factory implements a project for reforestation and ecology. For the last 5 years the company has invited the best experts in tree planting and implemented the best technologies in the field.

We prepared new format for this year’s competition, the key coordinator of the competition, IEM associate professor Natalia Redchikova adds. There was an addition to the traditional stages – creation of a video on students’ personal experience with responsible consumption: waste sorting and recycling, healthy life, eco-friendly tourism and fashion, conscious investment. The award panel highly rewarded the participants’ works. The students noted that despite the busy schedule they managed to acquire new unique skills.

The international expert of the competition Bolat Baltabaev, Deputy Dean of Higher School of Economics of Astana International University.

I actively participated as an expert in the All-Russian (with international participation) Academic Competition “Entrepreneurship and Management”. Having attracted young talents from Russia and neighboring countries it became a significant event in the educational environment. This event not only gave the students the possibility to show their skills and knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and management but also served as a platform for ideas exchanging. I personally acquired huge experience and a lot of positive energy.
