Announcement: Competition for IEM Students for the Alexander Bychkov Scholarship
Senior-year IEM students, master's, and PhD students are invited to participate in the competition for the Professor A.P. Bychkov Scholarship.
A figure of great stature, an economist, an erudite who knew "Eugene Onegin" by heart. A combination of incredible charisma, energy, artistry, and... modesty. This was Alexander Petrovich Bychkov – a Professor, Rector of Tomsk State University (from 1967 to 1983), Head of the Department of Political Economy, Honored Scientist of the RSFSR, and Honorary Citizen of Tomsk.
"Among themselves, students called Alexander Petrovich by his initials, which spelled “Aliy Parus” (“Scarlet Sail”). These words remarkably describe his contribution to the formation and development of his beloved university: during Alexander Petrovich's tenure as rector, TSU secured and strengthened its status as a flagship of science and education in Siberia and the country."
For the 100th anniversary of Alexander Petrovich Bychkov, a brief biography with recollections from his students was prepared. For the 105th anniversary, which we will celebrate on February 13, 2026, IEM has established the A.P. Bychkov Scholarship for students, master's, and PhD candidates for outstanding academic achievements, funded by Endowment Fund No. 4 "Leaders of the Future."
Eligibility for participation in competition:
· IEM undergraduate and specialist-degree students who have completed at least 4 examination sessions.
· Master's and PhD students of all years.
The scholarship, in the amount of 10,000 rubles per month, will be awarded to the two best candidates and paid from February 1, 2026, for a duration of 5 months.
Application Deadline:
Applications and supporting documents(in electronic form to iem@mail.tsu.ru) are accepted from October 10 to December 10, 2025.
