The Entrepreneurship and Management All-Russian Olympiad gathered more than 100 participants from 17 universities of Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan

The All-Russian Student Competition on entrepreneurship and management was held at IEM, uniting for the first time TSU business partners and the scientific community and bringing together 110 participants from 17 universities – TSU (Tomsk), Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk), Saratov State Law Academy (Saratov), Vitebsk State Technological University (Vitebsk, Belarus), Institute of Management and Economics (Omsk), Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI (Novosibirsk), M. Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology (Krasnoyarsk). North-Caucasus Federal University (Stavropol), Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) (Saint-Petersburg), Kemerovo State University (Kemerovo), Institute of the Prosecutor's Office (Moscow), Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Moscow), Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies (Novosibirsk), Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service (Samarkand, Uzbekistan), Ural State University of Economics (Yekaterinburg), South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), Central Russian Institute of Management of RANEPA (Oryol). IEM students took 2nd and 3rd places in the individual tests, and the first place in the team.

“IEM hosts the Olympiad for more than 20 years, we pay great attention to cooperation and partnership,” says the chairwoman of the Olympiad, Assistant Professor of the Department of Strategic Management and Marketing Elena Rozhdestvenskaya. “For all these years there have never been so many participants: this is a significant growth for us! The Olympiad is an all-Russian platform for interaction, exchange of experience and knowledge between students, business representatives and teachers of Tomsk, different Russian cities, and neighboring countries.”

An important and interesting part of the Olympiad was the case study on development of elements of a business model for responsible production and consumption. This year the case was provided by Tomsk Product Company SAVA. Team performances were evaluated by business representatives (CEO of TPK SAVA Evgeniy Nikitin was a chairman of the commission of the 2nd round), and the students offered creative and well-argumened solutions.

Background data for the case: the plan is to create a project, the main principle of which is direct interaction with nature and a garden, the possibility for visitors to eat berries from a bush, learn the technology of cultivation – what is called "sensory garden”. A tourist zone is to be located on the border with a 100-hectare industrial honeysuckle garden. 90% of the excursions are planned to be in the tourist zone, 10% – in the industrial garden. Planting and maintenance of the garden area will be provided by the project partner Severniy Sad.

Severniy Sad managers Alexandr Razomazov and Daria Zheleiko helped the students during the work on the case, advised and answered questions. Representatives of the Sibirskiy Kedr eco-factory Alexey Lysykh and Yulia Zabelina awarded prizes from the company to the most active team members. Perhaps next year Sibirskiy Kedr will offer its own case study as part of the Olympiad.

“All teams showed a professional approach when solving the case,” said Sergei Strelnikov, Deputy Executive Director for Digital Transformation of SIBAGRO.

"Such events are very important for the organization of practice-oriented education," says Inna Krakovetskaya, Professor of the Department of Strategic Management and Marketing and a member of the organizing committee of the Olympiad. “For students it is a great opportunity to meet future employers and to show themselves off. And for business managers it is an opportunity to get new solutions and fresh ideas from the youth. The online format of the Olympiad attracted students and their academic supervisors from Uzbekistan, Belarus, the capital cities and cities of Siberia.

“This year our traditional Entrepreneurship and Management Olympiad took place with international participation. Although until recently mainly students from Tomsk have been taking part in it, last year we went all-Russian, and this year we went even further,” says Natalia Redchikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Strategic Management and Marketing and a member of the organizing committee of the Olympiad. “For the second year in a row we devote the Olympiad to the theme of responsible consumption and production. I liked that this time it was not so much a competition as an active discussion about the problems of responsible business practices.”
